Hi, everyone! I am so honoured have Erin McLellan on my blog today! Her second book, Life of Bliss came out today! My review of it will be on soon, but I can already tell you that it’s worth reading!
Erin was also very kind and has organised a giveaway! The link can be found at the end of the post!
I’m so happy to be here at Katie’s Book Corner to share a little bit about my new release, Life of Bliss and to give you some book recommendations! There’s also a giveaway at the end of the post!
Life of Bliss is my attempt to jam all of my favorite tropes into one novella. It has frenemies with benefits, a pretend relationship, and (oops) an accidental marriage. My favorite of those is definitely the wake-up married trope, made popular by countless rash decisions in Las Vegas. In Life of Bliss, Todd and Victor, who are almost friends but mostly frenemies, pretend to be boyfriends to keep Victor’s family off his back at his cousin’s wedding. Through the course of the wedding reception, Victor and Todd get drunk and decide that this wedded-bliss thing sounds like a good idea. Then they wake up married. I decided to put my own spin on this trope by setting this part of the book in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, which claims to be the Wedding Capitol of the South.
I love trope-y stories. Tropes are one of my favorite things about reading romance novels, especially when you find those authors who can turn a trope on its ear and make it fresh. There are a ton of authors who have taken the wedding tropes—wake-up married, pretend engagement/marriage, marriage of convenience—and written them in new and exciting ways. And it is my catnip! Here are a few of my favorites!
Far From Home by Lorelie Brown
This f/f romance is a green card/marriage of convenience story. It covers some heavy subject matter, like anorexia, but it’s also intensely romantic. Plus, it was a RITA nominee!
Faking It by Christine d’Abo
I love this series by d’Abo, and this m/m fake engagement/marriage of convenience story is the star, I think. One character’s wealthy and villainous father is trying to force him into an arranged marriage, so the main character shows up with a fake fiancée to push the arranged marriage off the table.
His Convenient Husband by Robin Covington
This is also a marriage of convenience story, where the characters get married to keep a character in the US after he is denied asylum. I like this m/m romance because it’s tropey and fluffy without feeling too sugary. Plus, it pairs a professional football player with a ballet dancer!
Sweet Filthy Boy by Christina Lauren
This m/f romance kicks off the ultimate drunk Vegas wedding series. Three best girl friends meet and marry three men who are also friends after a night of drinking together. Each couple gets their own book, and they all handle their oops-marriage differently. In this book, the heroine goes to France to get to know the hero better, and it’s hot and swoon-worthy.
The Princess Trap by Talia Hibbert
I just recently read this trope-city BWWM romance, and adored it! It has a prince in disguise, a fake royal engagement, a hot black heroine, and super sexy sex scenes. Plus, I love the casual way the hero’s bisexuality is mentioned. It’s not a point of conflict, which was lovely.
Insert Groom Here by K.M. Jackson
This m/f romance is a wonderful, tropey reality TV extravaganza. When the heroine is dumped by her fiancé on national television, she is given the opportunity to save face by finding a groom within the month. But things heat up with the producer instead. I love the examination of reality television and its inherent manipulation here.
Will & Patrick Wake Up Married by Leta Blake and Alice Griffiths
This m/m romance is the first installment in the Wake Up married series, and it’s a fun start. It’s includes some great tropes: enemies to lovers, wake up married, and fake relationship. Plus there’s the mafia—all fun things!
On my To Be Read List
Before Daylight by Andie J. Christopher
This recent release includes a drunk wedding between a TV producer and ballerina! I saw people talking about how this book was making them sob, which I’m a total sucker for! Sign me up!
Between a Honeymoon and a Hot Mess by Phyllis Bourne
I cannot wait to get my hands on this m/f romantic comedy! The heroine can’t wait to get through her sister’s wedding in Vegas so she can dump her own cheating fiancé! But oh, Vegas! She wakes up with a wedding band on her hand and man from her past in her bed!

Nobody plans to accidentally marry their frenemy-with-benefits.
Todd McGower and Victor Consuelos do not like each other. They can’t have a conversation without insults flying, and Victor seems to get off on pushing Todd’s buttons. The fact that their antagonism always leads to explosive sex . . . well, that’s their little secret.
Victor has a secret of his own. His full-blown crush on Todd is ruining his sex life. He hasn’t looked at anyone else in months, and he’s too hung up on Todd to find a date to his cousin’s wedding.
In a moment of weakness after a heart-stopping night together, Todd agrees to be Victor’s fake boyfriend for the wedding. Victor will have his plus-one—which will get his family off his back—and Todd will get a free mini-vacation. It’s a win-win.
But pretending to be fake boyfriends leads to real intimacy, which leads to too much wine, and suddenly, Todd and Victor wake up with wedding bands and a marriage license between them. That was not their plan, but a summer of wedded bliss might just change their minds.
Erin McLellan writes contemporary romance with characters that are complex, goodhearted, and sometimes a little quirky. She likes her stories to have a sexy spark and a happily ever after.
