Practice Makes Perfect by Jay Northcote

practice makes perfectGetting experience with the guy next door seems like a great idea-until the lines blur. Dev, a geeky first year physics student, has zero sexual experience and he’s determined to change that ASAP. After a bad time in halls of residence, he’s starting the summer term with different housemates and a new plan of action. Ewan lives in the house next door to Dev. He’s young, free and single, and isn’t looking to change that anytime soon. When awkward circumstances throw them together, Ewan offers to help Dev out in the bedroom in return for maths tutoring, and Dev jumps at the chance. They work their way through Dev’s sex-to-do list, but what starts as a perfect no-strings arrangement gets more complicated as their feelings for each other begin to grow. If they’re going to turn their lessons in lovemaking into something more permanent, they need to work out how they feel about each other-before they get to the end of Dev’s list.

* I received the book in exchange for an honest review*

I could go check how I started previous reviews of the series so I don’t repeat myself all the time but WOW did I love the book!

There’s a shy, inexperienced nerd who has been bullied in halls of residence. But luckily there was Rupert, the MC from Like a Lover, who knew that his boyfriend’s old place has an empty room. So this cute nerd Dev ends up together with the guys from other books.

How Ewan and Dev meet is an embarrassing and hilarious story that involves a good vibrator and the address where the package was delivered 😉

Eventually the guys figure out that Ewan needs maths tutoring (something I understand and also one of the reasons why I didn’t choose the same subject as Ewan 🙂 ) and as Dev is a physics student, they decide that Dev could tutor him. In exchange, Ewan helps Dev go through the list of what he’d like to try, and ‘tutor’ him through his sex-to-do list (oh and also teaches him how to cook. And they also hang out. But not in a relationship, NO!)

Of course this friends(-tutors) with benefits doesn’t really work as it’s supposed to. The guys develop feelings for each other but are too chicken to share it with each other. Ewan thinks Dev just wants to learn those things to find the right person afterwards, and Dev is self-conscious.

I just love how the author writes those stories. In every one of them I just want to hug the characters, wrap them in protective blankets and all, but at the same time crush their heads together like that photo that was flowing around years ago to get their act together and talk! 🙂

This book is once again sweet, sexy and only slightly angsty! I keep yelling about the whole series on social media so…it’s a safe bet to say I love it and I would recommend it! 🙂
